I’ve spent the last two weeks writing a lot every day, and trying to get myself organised for the coming academic year. I (finally) have a dedicated notebook for my dissertation — one I bought at the Museo del Prado when I visited my sister in Madrid a few years ago, with a close-up floral detail from a painting by Clara Peeters on the cover.
August is going by quickly, and I’m looking forward to the beginning of September. The school year starts later here than it does in America, but the anticipation is already building.

A few books I’m planning on reading this coming autumn:
Jane: A Murder by Maggie Nelson
Girlhood by Melissa Febos
Mothersong by Amy Acre
Grief Lessons by Anne Carson
Girls Against God by Jenny Hval
I don’t have much for today’s newsletter, in terms of what I’ve been up to since the last one. Next week though, I definitely will, because I’ve got tickets to see the Dundee preview of The National Theatre of Scotland’s production of The Fifth Step, starring Jack Lowden, as part of the Edinburgh International Festival. I’ve been looking forward to this for months, and I’m excited to let you all know what I think in next Monday’s newsletter.
A poem for this week: The Pond by Mary Oliver
What I’m (re)Reading: Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman
What I’m Watching: Killing Eve (onto season 3)
What I’m Listening To: two new songs from some super talented friends of mine! running in circles by Faith Zapata and Jane by SARA
What I’m Loving: blueberry yogurt, fountain pens, and pink glittery nail polish
love this! I've been thinking about reading call me by your name, are you enjoying it?
